💰 $80,400 - $144,700 per year
About the role
- Responsible for product development from concept through production, including new product, sustaining and field problem resolution
- Lead electro-mechanical product design and/or redesign, part assembly and detailed part drawings
- Lead prototyping, testing, and assembly of samples and conduct pilot/pre-production runs
- Develop and distribute engineering data (Engineering Change Notices, bills of material, parts tracking)
- Partner with manufacturing to resolve part or assembly issues, deviation requests and bill of material errors
- Participate in or occasionally lead team meetings using the product delivery system (stage gate product development)
- Initiate and develop concepts from Project Charters and Specification Matrices; review competitors' samples
- Ensure concepts are agreeable with standard manufacturing methods at the manufacturing facility
- Continuously improve processes related to productivity, quality, purchasing and manufacturing and support Kaizen activities
- Submit test and prototyping requests and engage with testing group and model shop as necessary
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent in Mechanical Engineering
- 3 to 5 years of experience
- Understands engineering fundamentals
- Ability to communicate verbally, in written form and through sketches, and engineering drawings
- Proficient use of 3D CAD (SolidWorks)
- Proficient with PLM software (preferably Windchill)
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and related tools
- Proficient in LEAN methodology and DMAIC tools (standard work, cause & effect, etc.)
- Understanding of manufacturing methods (stamping, drawing, casting, extruding of metals and plastics)
- Leadership and ability to influence cross-functional teams
- Knowledge of UL / CSA and testing processes is a plus
- Ability to perform medium work (exert up to 50 pounds occasionally)
- Travel Domestic (USA) and Mexico up to 10%
