About the role

  • Support Coding Supervisors in monitoring coders in quality and efficiency, serving as a resource and facilitator
  • Review rebuttals submitted by coders and provide education or escalate if initial coding is correct
  • Answer coding questions for assigned coders and trend questions to identify training opportunities; collaborate with Client and Training teams
  • Track audits completed per coder and assist with auditing when coder has not received recent feedback
  • Support new hires released to production as a coder-buddy
  • Conduct one-on-ones with coders focused on quality improvement
  • Assist in tracking coder KPI and quality metrics on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis
  • Coach employees who are not meeting expectations and recommend performance improvement initiatives
  • Collaborate with the Quality Department to ensure 95% accuracy expectation is met
  • Report trends for education opportunities in both quality and productivity to management
  • Assist in coding to meet monthly production goals while maintaining quality at 95% or higher
  • Perform any other tasks required by management

Requirements

  • AHIMA certified credentials (CCS, CCS-P) or AAPC certified credentials (CPC, CPC-H, COC, CIC, CRC)
  • Extensive knowledge of ICD -10
  • 2 years' HCC coding experience
  • 1+ years' Team Lead experience a plus
  • A strong knowledge base of medical terminology, medical abbreviations, pharmacology and disease processes
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment while maintaining high quality
  • Must be able to follow instructions, meet deadlines and work independently
  • Ability to be flexible in work environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to work in a remote environment and time management skills
  • Working knowledge of the business use of computer hardware and software to ensure effectiveness and quality of the processing and security of the data
