About the role
- Utilize knowledge with engine products to manage the coordination and overall integration of technical activities for key product line lifecycles
- Utilize technical knowledge to understand and interpret engine market and industry trends and lead initiatives for new product introduction and existing product change introduction
- Manage the development of the long-term product line strategy, forecast, and annual operating plan
- Understand target market segments and competitive landscape and determine when products should be deemed obsolete due to product lifecycle changes
- Recommend improvement process changes that will improve Value Package Introduction and Value Package Change processes
- Develop work plans for Product Managers and Associate Product Managers to deliver product line results, provide guidance and direction on problems and issues
- Develop or implement policies, standards, or procedures for engineering and technical work
- Confer with management, production, or marketing staff to discuss engineering project specifications or procedures and assess project feasibility by analyzing technology, resource needs, or market demand
- Aggregate inputs from customer perception, competitor positioning, alternative product capabilities, and determine where to compete for business within the target market segment
- Identify engineering market research needs and requirements and review findings to translate findings into product attributes and associated product marketing plans
- Identify and implement key product direction in support of marketing and engineering strategies and provide input to the Strategic Planning Process
- Conduct complex market research and develop marketing communication plans for engineering products and systems
- Align engineering and system products to global brand strategy and collect and interpret user satisfaction data integrating Voice of the Customer
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Engineering Management, Sales or Product Engineering, or related field and 3 years of experience as a Sales, Aftermarket or Product Specialist or related position
- Alternatively, Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Management, Sales or Product Engineering, or related field and 5 years of experience as a Sales, Aftermarket or Product Specialist or related position
- Experience to include: New Product Introduction; Manage Annual Operating Plan; Product lifecycle management; Marketing Plan Management; Positioning for target segments; Translate market research into product marketing plans; Strategic Planning Process; Develop marketing communication plans for engineering products; Voice of the Customer
- Location: Columbus, IN and various unanticipated worksites throughout the U.S.
