Applies engineering principles and design practices to create optimized design concepts and mechanical design specifications
Investigates VPI program team or field-based issues, recommends appropriate action, and owns problem resolution from a design perspective
Applies and supports execution of processes such as Critical Design Decisions, Design Review, and tools such as iDFMEA, DVA, GD&T, CREO, ANSYS Workbench
Negotiates with cross-functional and cross-discipline experts to communicate component and subsystem design intent through Design Review packages
Supports design decision making in concept selection, optimization, and design specifications for product initiatives
Owns problem resolution for moderately complex components, products, systems, subsystems or services
Provides independent execution of established work processes and engages with system/process improvements
Coordinates and directs work among technicians or temporary student employees when needed
Creates 3D models and 2D drawings, performs feasibility studies, basic design calculations, and interacts with customers & internal CFTs
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in an appropriate STEM field, or equivalent experience
