About the role
- Act as underwriting support, creating efficient workflow to ensure deadlines are met
- Support underwriting desks by examining application forms, inspection reports, insurance maps and past claims to determine degree of risk
- Identify and gather relevant account information required to quote and/or bind the policy
- Manage end-to-end policy/quote set up within SLAs and ensure Underwriters are kept informed
- Communicate with brokers/agencies, wholesalers, and internal departments to resolve issues and respond to inquiries
- Coordinate with Operations Specialist to update internal systems and complete rating
- Prepare quotes by reviewing exposures and experience rating, updating account information, rates and adjusting price as requested
- Provide information for regulatory compliance (statutory filings, proof of insurance, certificates)
- Participate in projects/assignments as requested
- Ensure accurate and timely servicing and billing of accounts
- Manage accuracy of account documentation including proposals, agreements, reinsurance contracts, endorsements, cancellations
- Complete Peer Review of work used in underwriting/pricing exhibits
Requirements
- 3+ years insurance experience related to rating, quoting, and issuance of P&C Insurance is preferred
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
- Proficient in interpreting Loss information
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Strong property knowledge a plus
- Independently able to assign class codes, handle bureau criticisms
