About the role

  • Overseeing the firm’s docket operations, ensuring accurate and timely management of all litigation deadlines, court dates, and case milestones.
  • Supervising docket staff, developing and implementing docket procedures.
  • Collaborating with attorneys and firm leadership to mitigate risk and maintain compliance with court and agency rules.
  • Managing and supervising the litigation docket team, providing guidance and training.
  • Establishing and maintaining docketing policies, procedures and best practices.
  • Ensuring compliance with court rules, local procedures, and firm policies regarding docketing.
  • Monitoring and reviewing the entry of litigation deadlines, court dates and related events into the firm’s docketing software.
  • Ensuring the accuracy and integrity of docket data and reports distributed to attorneys and staff.
  • Responding promptly and professionally to information requests from attorneys and professional staff regarding docketed dates, agency and court rules and procedures.
  • Staying current with changes in court rules and procedures, updating processes as needed.
  • Serving as the primary point of contact for litigation docketing issues and escalation.
  • Assisting with the development of department policies and procedures and innovation related projects.
  • Other duties as assigned to fully meet the requirements of the position.

Requirements

  • Extensive docketing and case management experience in a law firm docket department required.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Proficiency in utilizing docketing software (i.e. eDockets, CompuLaw, CourtAlert) for calendaring and reporting.
  • Extensive knowledge of federal and state court rules, procedures, e-filing procedures and technologies.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite applications.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and ensure compliance under tight deadlines.
  • Flexibility to work outside regular business hours and travel for business as needed.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required. Equivalent training and legal experience may substitute for education.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive docketing and case management experience during which knowledge, skills and abilities relevant to the position were attained.
  • Demonstrated expertise in court rules, procedures, and docketing software.
  • Previous supervisory or team leadership experience is strongly preferred.
