About the role
- Oversee the Dispatch organization and set direction for the group
- Implement policies and processes consistent with company business strategy
- Meet transportation and logistics needs of customers by providing simple operational processes
- Provide daily guidance and assistance to Dispatch Supervisors and teams
- Develop strategic direction for the dispatch department and lane strategies
- Manage timesheets and time off requests
- Provide updates and insight on overall state of dispatch to superiors
- Monitor key accounts to manage SLA expectations
- Assist in hiring skilled dispatchers and lead a high performing team
- Work closely with Carrier Performance teams to ensure alignment to KPIs, SLAs and company goals
- Make corrective action and disciplinary decisions up to written warning level
- Develop and monitor KPIs for the Dispatch team
- Align area priorities with broader organization vision, values, and strategies
- Identify and solve process, technical and operational problems; communicate objectives and modify approaches as needed
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline and 6 years’ experience in a related field
- OR Master's degree and 4 years’ experience; Ph.D. and 1 year experience; or 10 years’ experience in a related field
- 1+ year of experience in management or lead role
- Previous auto transportation/logistics experience strongly preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
- Strong analytical, communication and interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to make decisions
- Customer service skills
- Strong problem solving and innovative thinking skills
- Extreme patience dealing with explosive situations; flawless follow-up procedures
- Comprehensive knowledge of regulations impacting daily operations (DOT – national and state)
- Must be authorized to work in the United States for any employer without current or future sponsorship
- Will need to clear a pre-employment drug test
- Able to travel up to 5% of the time
