About the role
- Serve as senior-level advisor on employee relations, overseeing escalated and sensitive workplace matters
- Develop, implement, and improve employee relations strategies, policies, and tools for consistency across regions
- Partner with leaders to foster a culture rooted in trust, accountability, and respect
- Provide coaching and training on conflict resolution, investigations, progressive discipline, and performance improvement
- Monitor regional compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws and drive policy adjustments
- Lead, mentor, and develop Regional HR Managers to manage day-to-day HR and complex ER cases
- Translate corporate HR initiatives into regional strategies and ensure consistent implementation
- Establish performance metrics for HR and ER effectiveness to strengthen engagement and reduce risks
- Ensure HR operations reflect employee relations outcomes in collaboration with benefits, payroll, and HRIS
- Build trust-based relationships with regional leadership, corporate departments, and C-level executives
- Lead or contribute to initiatives on workplace culture, employee engagement, and organizational effectiveness
Requirements
- Strong background in employee relations, conflict resolution, and workplace culture development
- Strategic HR leadership skills and experience leading/mentoring Regional HR Managers
- Experience with investigations, progressive discipline, and performance improvement planning
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local labor laws and compliance
- Ability to coach and train HR teams and managers
- Experience collaborating with benefits, payroll, and HRIS teams
- SHRM CP/SCP or CPTD preferred (not required)
- Must reside in Eastern Standard Time
- Ability to commute to corporate office in Virginia Beach, VA once per month
- Anticipated travel required
