Oversee all core accounting functions, including bookkeeping, A/P, A/R, payroll, general ledger, and monthly closing
Ensure timely and accurate payroll processing and proper recording of payroll data into the accounting system to support program-level and project-specific reporting
Lead grant-related accounting, ensuring accurate expense tracking, timely reporting, and compliance with grant requirements
Lead the annual audit process, ensuring a clean audit with no material weaknesses
Manage the preparation and filing of the annual Form 990 and other required regulatory filings
Maintain and continuously strengthen fiscal policies and procedures, including internal controls, to safeguard assets and ensure efficient accounting practices
Ensure that all finance records are properly documented, organized and securely maintained
Mentor and support junior finance team members (note: this role will not directly manage any staff)
Identify and develop professional development opportunities to improve financial and operational effectiveness
Contribute to a collaborative, service-oriented culture within the Array central team
Lead efforts to research, evaluate, recommend, and implement new financial operations systems
Collaborate with colleagues to improve financial operations and streamline accounting workflows to deliver accurate reporting and high-quality accounting support
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
CPA and/or Master’s degree strongly preferred
7+ years of progressive nonprofit accounting experience, including at least 3 years in a supervisory or leadership role
Deep understanding of nonprofit GAAP accounting principles, including grant and fund accounting
Demonstrated effectiveness in communicating and collaborating, able to translate complex accounting issues for non-financial colleagues
Excellent attention to detail with the ability to manage complex accounting operations and deadlines
Fluency in Microsoft Excel and Google Suite
