About the role

  • Reporting to Array’s Managing Director of Finance
  • Oversee all core accounting functions, including bookkeeping, A/P, A/R, payroll, general ledger, and monthly closing
  • Ensure timely and accurate payroll processing and proper recording of payroll data into the accounting system to support program-level and project-specific reporting
  • Lead grant-related accounting, ensuring accurate expense tracking, timely reporting, and compliance with grant requirements
  • Lead the annual audit process, ensuring a clean audit with no material weaknesses
  • Manage the preparation and filing of the annual Form 990 and other required regulatory filings
  • Maintain and continuously strengthen fiscal policies and procedures, including internal controls, to safeguard assets and ensure efficient accounting practices
  • Ensure that all finance records are properly documented, organized and securely maintained
  • Mentor and support junior finance team members (note: this role will not directly manage any staff)
  • Identify and develop professional development opportunities to improve financial and operational effectiveness
  • Contribute to a collaborative, service-oriented culture within the Array central team
  • Lead efforts to research, evaluate, recommend, and implement new financial operations systems
  • Collaborate with colleagues to improve financial operations and streamline accounting workflows to deliver accurate reporting and high-quality accounting support

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
  • CPA and/or Master’s degree strongly preferred
  • 7+ years of progressive nonprofit accounting experience, including at least 3 years in a supervisory or leadership role
  • Deep understanding of nonprofit GAAP accounting principles, including grant and fund accounting
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in communicating and collaborating, able to translate complex accounting issues for non-financial colleagues
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to manage complex accounting operations and deadlines
  • Fluency in Microsoft Excel and Google Suite
