Provide wide-ranging occupational therapy services to help patients regain ability to perform normal activities, self-care and responsibilities
Evaluate and treat patients with physical, emotional, cognitive and/or psychosocial deficits impacting independent living skills
Assess patient's ability to safely and effectively perform independent living skills
Design and implement appropriate plan of care, including type and frequency of treatment
Use appropriate modalities to implement the treatment plan
Document subjective and objective findings of patient progress
Monitor and modify the plan of care as needed and seek consultation as necessary
Educate patient and family/caregiver about patient deficits and treatment
Plan and/or assist with patient discharge from therapy services and treatment setting
Provide information regarding appropriate selection/use of adaptive equipment and support programs
Oversee care provided by certified occupational therapy assistants and therapy technicians according to licensing laws and practice standards
Float to Fairview and Lutheran hospitals as needed; work days 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m. with weekend requirements
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree
Graduate of an Occupational Therapy Program accredited by the American Occupational Therapy Association
Current Ohio licensure as an Occupational Therapist (OT)
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
Preferred: Experience in a clinical area
Preferred: Acute care experience
Weekend work requirements
Ability to float to Fairview and Lutheran hospitals as needed
Physical Requirements: Ability to walk without assistive device and to maintain balance despite sudden load; ability to meet heavy-level physical demands (1993 Leonard Matheson and Ministry of Labor);
Ability to lift and reach with arms to lift patient limbs during therapy
Sensation of touch and manual dexterity to palpate muscle tension or monitor pulse
Visual acuity to observe motor movements and read patient monitors
Ability to speak clearly to instruct patients and families
Ability to hear at conversational level to understand patients' descriptions and responses
Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required
