Apply a wide variety of therapeutic techniques for the rehabilitation of patients with functional limitations, impairments and disorders, working in conjunction with a Physical Therapist
Implement patient treatment following evaluations by a Physical Therapist and discuss possible changes in treatment approach with the supervising therapist
Assist in the preparation of new treatment programs
Assume responsibility for the care, safety and well-being of patients during assigned acts; observe all necessary precautions and procedures in the use of equipment
Provide appropriate documentation for each patient visit in accordance with departmental policy and procedures
Maintain and care for all equipment and apparatus; maintain order and cleanliness of the department and ensure economical use of supplies, linens and utilities
Provide appropriate billing for each patient visit in accordance with departmental policy and procedures
Assist in the on-the-job training of ancillary personnel
Work a day/evening rotation (10:00 a.m. – 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.) and work at both Braathen Center – Neuro and Krupa Center – Ortho locations as specified
Requirements
Associate degree from an accredited school of Physical Therapy Assisting
Possess license as Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) in the state of Florida
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
Internship experience
Preferred: Prior aquatic PT experience
Preferred: Neurorehabilitation training experience such as in Parkinson’s disease
Preferred: Outpatient experience
Preferred: EPIC experience
Preferred: Aquatic Therapy experience or interest
Physical requirements: lifting and carrying equipment, supplies and materials up to 50 pounds; stooping, pushing, reaching and pulling when moving patients or equipment into position for treatment
Ability to work at a fast pace and to prioritize multiple assignments/projects and respond to numerous requests
Ability to resolve conflicts among staff and to work collaboratively
Needs minimal sustained direction in assessing needs and carrying out departmental and professional responsibilities
Self-starting and self-motivating; working hours may exceed eight (8) hours per day
