About the role
- Evaluate and conduct prescribed physical therapy treatment programs
- Perform initial and ongoing assessments of patients’ conditions
- Establish, revise and evaluate plans of care while involving the patient and/or their family
- Perform therapy interventions for bones, joints, muscles and tendons tailored to patients' unique needs and health backgrounds
- Supervise activities of Physical Therapy Assistants, students and other caregivers
- Create a healing atmosphere that enhances the Cleveland Clinic treatment experience and provide patient-first healthcare
- Work alongside passionate caregivers and provide highly specialized outpatient orthopedic care
- PRN scheduling: minimum of 2 8-hr shifts per month, up to 40 hours/week based on staffing and volume needs
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or certificate
- Current state licensure as a Physical Therapist (PT)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
- Preferred: Five years of physical therapy experience
- Preferred: Experience in a clinical area
- This is a PRN position: work a minimum of 2 8-hr shifts per month with a maximum of 40-hrs per week based on staffing/volume needs
- Ability to walk and climb stairs without assistive device and to maintain balance despite sudden load in order to support patient from falling
- Ability to meet physical demands characterized at the heavy level defined by 1993 Leonard Matheson and Ministry of Labor
- Ability to lift and reach with arms sufficiently to lift patient's arm and leg during therapeutic treatment program
- Sensation of touch and manual dexterity to be able to palpate muscle tension or to monitor patient pulse
- Visual acuity to observe patient's gross and fine motor movements in order to analyze these movements and to read all patient monitors
- Ability to speak clearly enough to instruct patients and families
- Ability to hear at a conversational level to understand patient's description of symptoms and response to treatment
- Must follow personal protective equipment and standard precautions as required
- All offers of employment are followed by testing for controlled substances and nicotine; new caregivers must clear a nicotine test within their 90-day new hire period
- Must comply with Cleveland Clinic Health System influenza prevention program (annual influenza vaccination or approved exemption)
