About the role

  • Evaluate and conduct prescribed physical therapy treatment programs
  • Perform initial and ongoing assessments of patients’ conditions
  • Establish, revise and evaluate plans of care while involving the patient and/or their family
  • Perform therapy interventions for bones, joints, muscles and tendons tailored to patients' unique needs and health backgrounds
  • Supervise activities of Physical Therapy Assistants, students and other caregivers
  • Create a healing atmosphere that enhances the Cleveland Clinic treatment experience and provide patient-first healthcare
  • Work alongside passionate caregivers and provide highly specialized outpatient orthopedic care
  • PRN scheduling: minimum of 2 8-hr shifts per month, up to 40 hours/week based on staffing and volume needs

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or certificate
  • Current state licensure as a Physical Therapist (PT)
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Preferred: Five years of physical therapy experience
  • Preferred: Experience in a clinical area
  • This is a PRN position: work a minimum of 2 8-hr shifts per month with a maximum of 40-hrs per week based on staffing/volume needs
  • Ability to walk and climb stairs without assistive device and to maintain balance despite sudden load in order to support patient from falling
  • Ability to meet physical demands characterized at the heavy level defined by 1993 Leonard Matheson and Ministry of Labor
  • Ability to lift and reach with arms sufficiently to lift patient's arm and leg during therapeutic treatment program
  • Sensation of touch and manual dexterity to be able to palpate muscle tension or to monitor patient pulse
  • Visual acuity to observe patient's gross and fine motor movements in order to analyze these movements and to read all patient monitors
  • Ability to speak clearly enough to instruct patients and families
  • Ability to hear at a conversational level to understand patient's description of symptoms and response to treatment
  • Must follow personal protective equipment and standard precautions as required
  • All offers of employment are followed by testing for controlled substances and nicotine; new caregivers must clear a nicotine test within their 90-day new hire period
  • Must comply with Cleveland Clinic Health System influenza prevention program (annual influenza vaccination or approved exemption)
