About the role

  • Oversee the Antepartum Unit, providing care for high-risk patients through labor and delivery, recovery and postpartum in an ambulatory setting
  • Provide diagnostic or therapeutic services to patients while offering clinical supervision, maintaining quality outcomes and supervising all aspects of personnel management and development
  • Manage practice of professional nursing and delivery of nurse care on assigned unit
  • Establish clinical direction for nursing care delivery, provide clinical supervision and maintain quality outcomes
  • Collaborate with liaison departments in maintaining patient care standards
  • Identify and resolve issues affecting the delivery of patient care services in a unit
  • Develop quality initiatives and implement policies and procedures to ensure efficient and effective delivery of health services in a unit
  • Develop and maintain unit related patient care standards through continuous quality improvement
  • Maintain JCAHO and other regulatory standards
  • Manage operation of unit, analyze personnel structure, determine staffing needs and mix
  • Provide direction and supervision, evaluate performance, conduct selection and termination process and develop strategic plans
  • Participate in clinical nursing research and support foundation research activities
  • Directs unit participation in evaluation of new products
  • Approve purchases and establish or revise inventory quotes
  • Assist in the development and monitoring of budget

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Nursing is required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN)
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross
  • Three years of recent clinical nursing experience, including at least one year of healthcare management experience
  • High degree of clinical expertise in the specialty area
  • Demonstrated leadership, management, communication, counseling, problem solving, decision making, conflict resolution and group process skills
  • OB background (preferred)
