About the role
- Oversee the Antepartum Unit, providing care for high-risk patients through labor and delivery, recovery and postpartum in an ambulatory setting
- Provide diagnostic or therapeutic services to patients while offering clinical supervision, maintaining quality outcomes and supervising all aspects of personnel management and development
- Manage practice of professional nursing and delivery of nurse care on assigned unit
- Establish clinical direction for nursing care delivery, provide clinical supervision and maintain quality outcomes
- Collaborate with liaison departments in maintaining patient care standards
- Identify and resolve issues affecting the delivery of patient care services in a unit
- Develop quality initiatives and implement policies and procedures to ensure efficient and effective delivery of health services in a unit
- Develop and maintain unit related patient care standards through continuous quality improvement
- Maintain JCAHO and other regulatory standards
- Manage operation of unit, analyze personnel structure, determine staffing needs and mix
- Provide direction and supervision, evaluate performance, conduct selection and termination process and develop strategic plans
- Participate in clinical nursing research and support foundation research activities
- Directs unit participation in evaluation of new products
- Approve purchases and establish or revise inventory quotes
- Assist in the development and monitoring of budget
Requirements
- Master’s Degree in Nursing is required
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN)
- Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross
- Three years of recent clinical nursing experience, including at least one year of healthcare management experience
- High degree of clinical expertise in the specialty area
- Demonstrated leadership, management, communication, counseling, problem solving, decision making, conflict resolution and group process skills
- OB background (preferred)
