About the role
- Troubleshoot and debug control systems, sensors, communications, and machinery to restore operation quickly.
- Track down root causes in electrical and control systems and implement lasting fixes.
- Design and build cables, connectors, and assemblies.
- Wire control cabinets, VFDs, motor controllers, and sensors.
- Create simple AC circuits to power biomass and pyrolysis equipment.
- Support R&D by wiring and commissioning new prototypes.
- Collaborate with mechanical engineers, software developers, and operators to integrate systems and keep production moving.
Requirements
- 5+ years as an electrician or electrical engineering tech in construction, aerospace, automotive, oil & gas, or other heavy-industry settings.
- Comfortable reading and using electrical schematics to wire control cabinets and build cable assemblies.
- Hands-on with sensors, VFDs, motor controllers, and high-power systems.
- Experience in environments where equipment behaves unpredictably.
- Troubleshooter at heart—ability to find root causes, not just swap parts.
- Comfortable on ladders, in crawl spaces, or wherever the job takes you.
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Proactive, collaborative, and steady under pressure.
- Motivated by messy, fast-paced environments where progress beats perfection.
- Bonus: Familiarity with PLC programming (ladder logic, structured text).
