About the role
- Responsible for the safe, timely and accurate transport of patients, medical equipment and patient-related items to and from their destinations.
- Enable nurses, clinical partners, physicians, diagnostic technicians and therapists to perform duties efficiently.
- Ensure all patient interactions use AIDET as the primary communication tool.
- Move equipment, supplies and operate elevators to facilitate patient and equipment transports.
- Transport patients, equipment and supplies between nursing units, diagnostic areas, emergency department and morgue.
- Work collaboratively with Management, the Dispatch Call Center and all healthcare team personnel.
Requirements
- Outstanding customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Patient transport experience in an acute care hospital preferred.
- Full comprehension (verbal and written) of the English language.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Valid Basic Life Safety (BLS) Certification through American Red Cross (ARC) or American Health Association (AHA) is required.
- Must be able to work 10hr shifts.
- Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods.
- Ability to bend, stoop, lift equipment up to 25 pounds, push and pull equipment weighting up to 400 pounds.
- Must be able to work with assigned equipment, gurneys, beds, wheel chairs, etc.
