About the role
- Manage the on-site transportation department (outbound and inbound) including its employees, assets, and service providers.
- Supervise transportation, logistics, and supply chain solutions, including routing and scheduling of shipments.
- Insuring that the plant has the needed transportation equipment and support from carriers.
- Liaison with manufacturing management to insure a smooth flow of material to and from the lines.
- Insure proper communication with all necessary internal and external carriers to insure appropriate receiving, scheduling, and dispatching of product.
- Process, audit, control and approve site transportation invoices/costs.
- Plan, organize, and manage direct reports and loading crews to insure work is performed in a manner consistent with organizational processes and procedures including enforcement of all safety rules.
- Provide prompt, accurate accounting and reporting, meet and exceed all company and departmental KPIs, insure that internal and external carriers are reporting and meeting their KPIs.
- Collaborate with other managers, staff members, sales personnel, employees, and outside carriers, to improve operations, meet objectives, provide superior customer service, and improve profitability.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement and customer satisfaction opportunities while continuing to improve profitability.
- Investigate service failures, product damage, safety issues, and other concerns as needed.
- Find and inforce corrective actions to prevent further problems.
- Monitor the use of powered industrial equipment (External vehicles and well as internal vehicles) to insure safe operation and cost control – report issues to the appropriate personnel, take corrective actions as needed.
- Insure that equipment pools /assets do not exceed needs.
- Direct, Recruit, interview, select, train, motivate, coach, test and certify employees in proper equipment use and personal protective equipment, and mentor shipping employees.
- Promote safe work activities by conducting safety audits, attending company safety meetings, and meeting with individual staff members.

Requirements
- A minimal of an Associate Degree in Business, Operations Management, Logistics, or related field preferred (or equivalent work experience).
- Minimum of 6 years in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Minimum of 4 years in a supervisory capacity required.
- Strong communication skills; verbal, written, leadership, collaboration, customer, training, safety.
- Proficiency in MS Office Software.
- Proven skills in learning and utilizing new computer programs.
- Understanding of root cause analysis and ability to take corrective actions.
- Awareness and understanding of the importance of Customer Service and Leadership.
- English skills required / Spanish Bilingual ability preferred.
- First Aid / CPR/ AED or First Responder training preferred.
- Ability to travel and work flexible hours required.
- A Proven Self-Motivated Performance driven person who can work without constant supervision.
