About the role
- Troubleshoot, service, and commission industrial water chillers (air-cooled, water-cooled, screw, scroll, centrifugal, reciprocating)
- Respond to service calls, conduct risk assessments and provide technical support for breakdowns, installations and maintenance
- Diagnose and rectify electrical and mechanical faults; troubleshoot complex issues on-site and remotely
- Interpret wiring diagrams, P&ID drawings, and pressure enthalpy diagrams
- Commission chillers ensuring installation compliance and provide technical advice to customers
- Oversee technicians on large sites; support junior engineers and apprentices; assist Training Manager with technical courses
- Ensure adherence to F-Gas regulations and health & safety standards; provide clear service reports via digital platform
- Act as SME in areas such as centrifugal compressor rebuilds, absorption chillers, and chiller sequencing controls
- Work closely with customers, attend meetings, and offer expert technical guidance with minimal supervision
Requirements
- City & Guilds Qualification in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning
- F-Gas Qualified (Category 1)
- HNC / ONC in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning (preferred)
- Experience with Carrier and other manufacturers’ Chillers and equipment
- Ability to work on commercial and industrial HVAC systems and troubleshoot complex breakdowns
- Diagnose and rectify electrical and mechanical faults; interpret wiring diagrams, P&ID and pressure enthalpy diagrams
- Commissioning experience with standard and large-capacity chillers
- Full UK Driving Licence (or equivalent)
- Strong understanding of refrigeration circuits, thermodynamics, and control systems
- Experience working in a Technician or Engineer role in the HVAC industry
