About the role
- Lead and support plant teams in meeting corporate objectives and achieving KPIs related to food safety and quality
- Manage and mentor Plant FSQA Managers to foster collaboration across facilities and drive a culture of high expectations throughout the organization
- Standardize quality management system and ensure the effective implementation of sanitation best practices and GFSI audit standards
- Serve as the backup BRC/SQF facility lead when needed
- Collaborate with the sales team to manage customer QA relationships, ensuring all customer FSQA requirements are met and maintained
- Oversee the quality assurance process, including internal assessments and audits of the quality system
- Manage non-conforming products, dispositions, and implement corrective actions as needed
- Accountable for analyzing and interpreting food safety data sets to identify trends and areas of improvement in food safety performance
- Drive data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives based on analytics
- Partner with the food safety leadership team to identify opportunities for automation in food safety processes and procedures
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements by leveraging expertise in interpreting the FDA regulations, the Food Safety Modernization Act, and local regulations related to food products, manufacturing, and packaging
- Handle additional responsibilities such as managing customer complaints, leading corrective and preventive actions, and reporting on key performance indicators to leadership
- Performs all other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree Food Science, Chemistry, Engineering or related field
- Minimum of 7 years’ experience management experience in a food safety and/or quality management role in a manufacturing environment
- Preferred experience in a bakery/dry mixing environment, including dry blending, frozen dough, and baked goods production
- HACCP certified & PCQI trained
- Trained in internal auditing and BRC/SQF certified, preferred
- Lean Six Sigma greenbelt, preferred
- Proficient use of computer, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote), and other related applications or software (SAP, Microsoft Forms)
