About the role
- Maintain and process payroll transactions for 300+ employees including salaries, overtime, bonuses, commissions and deductions accurately and on a timely basis to meet scheduled pay dates.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations, including tax filings and timely payments.
- Maintain and update payroll records, employee earnings, benefits, and deductions.
- Maintain and update 401k plan records and ensure that 401k and HSA plan contributions are prepared and transmitted on a timely basis.
- Prepare and reconcile payroll and benefits related journal entries and ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, tax withholdings, direct deposits, and pay discrepancies.
- Generate payroll reports and assist with audits related to payroll and tax compliance.
- Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to ensure accuracy in employee data and benefits integration.
- Prepare and reconcile month end accrual entries for financial reporting and assist with routine accounting duties that impact the day-to-day operations of the company.
- Lead the annual 401(k) plan audit in collaboration with external auditors, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements and timely submission of necessary documentation.
Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field is preferred.
- 5+ years of payroll accounting experience.
- High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and ability to work on multiple objectives at any one time.
- Successful experience processing payroll for 300+ employees.
- Experience working with multi-state and multi-company environment.
- Knowledge and experience of federal, statutory, local employment withholding tax regulations.
- Experience conducting 401k audit, workers compensation audit, and processing payroll journal entries.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience working in Paylocity or similar payroll systems required.
- Willing to assume duties and projects to further the goals of the company.
