About the role
- Lead development, documentation and maintenance of avionics architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs
- Serve as subject matter expert for system level architecture, system-specific issues, and processes
- Lead engineering team in implementation and maintenance of Mission Computing designs through development, lab test and flight test phases
- Lead engineering activities to implement Open Mission Systems (OMS) and Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools and processes
- Work with specialty engineering teams to decompose requirements to the Mission Computer, ensuring performance, safety critical, and environmental requirements are met
- Coordinate internal and external hardware-software integration efforts and stakeholder communication in an Agile environment
- Work with customers and aircrew to develop and document complex electronic and electrical system requirements
- Receive and analyze customer requests for contractual and technical impacts and translate into actionable system requirements
- Provide technical leadership for investigation and integration of emerging technologies and technology demonstrations
- Resolve product integration issues, production anomalies, and fielded hardware/software problems across the product lifecycle
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, engineering technology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science (or equivalent)
- Active U.S. Secret Security Clearance required (U.S. Citizenship Required)
- Experience in Open Mission Systems (OMS) development
- Experience in Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) development
- Familiarity with Universal Command and Control Interface (UCI) message standard and Common Abstraction Layer (CAL)
- Experience with system design and development, including component interactions, interfaces, and overall system functionality
- Experience with requirements development and management, including technical performance specification and statement of work development
- Experience working in a fast-paced Agile environment and coordinating hardware-software integration
- Preferred: Experience with NSA C2 and NCDSMO interactions and certification processes
- Preferred: Experience with Multi-level Security Networks and Multi-level Security Embedded Systems
- Preferred: Experience with cryptographic units, Cross Domain Solutions/Guards (CDS) and transfer CDS
- Preferred: Knowledge of 3U and 6U VPX/OpenVPX architectures (VITA 46 and VITA 65)
- Preferred: Knowledge of Signal Integrity & Interconnect for high-speed digital designs
- Preferred: Experience with High-Performance Embedded Computing (HPEC)
- Preferred: Hardware design and development across product lifecycle, including hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulations and testing
- Preferred: Experience designing secure architectures, secure boot, firmware validation, and secure communications
- Preferred: Familiarity with Open Architecture Standards (e.g., SOSA) and mezzanine card utilization (e.g., XMC)
- Preferred: Experience with 3U/6U FPGAs, GPUs, and CPUs
