About the role
- Leads development and analysis of Imaging Infrared Sensor algorithms for navigation and guidance applications on Weapon systems
- Image processing and computer vision for target detection, tracking and discrimination
- Test and issue resolution of sensor based algorithms across the portfolio of weapons applications
- Leads development of trade studies, modeling, simulation and analysis to predict real-world behavior and optimize design
- Leads development and execution of critical tests to validate performance to requirements
- Develop cutting-edge models, simulation tools, and algorithm strategies for Infrared, Laser and Radar sensors and provide technical mentorship
- Collect and review data from hardware-in-the-loop tests and flight test to measure/validate performance
- Evaluate candidate sensor systems to increase capabilities, decrease cost, and ensure compliance to requirements
- Support project management by coordinating work statement, budget, schedule and conducting reviews
- Travel in support of flight test activities and troubleshoot operational and delivered product service anomalies
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, engineering technology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
- 3+ years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (Experienced)
- 5+ years related work experience for Lead (preferred)
- 10+ years related work experience for Senior (preferred)
- Experience with C/C++ language computer programming
- Experience with developing and using modeling and simulation tools in C/C++ and Matlab/Simulink
- Experience implementing Optical/Infrared Sensor image and signal processing algorithms
- Knowledge of advanced mathematical principles (stochastic process, decision theory, transform methods, computational geometry, numerical linear algebra, optimization, computational math, numerical analysis, Monte Carlo analysis)
- Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance; US Citizenship required
- Export control compliance: must be a U.S. Person as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 (U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee)
- Visa sponsorship: Employer will not sponsor applicants for employment visa status
- Experience with Autonomous Target Recognition algorithm (preferred)
- Knowledge of estimation theory (e.g. Kalman filtering) (preferred)
- Knowledge of navigation systems and modeling/simulation of navigation systems (preferred)
- Knowledge of Optical/Infrared and Radar sensor phenomenology and performance analysis (preferred)
- Experience integrating algorithm solutions into weapon platforms (preferred)
- Experience effectively communicating and collaborating on multi-discipline teams (preferred)
