About the role

  • Provide mechanical engineering guidance in the design, development, procurement, modification, and maintenance of overhead crane and hoisting systems
  • Partner and collaborate with engineering, maintenance, operations, and project management teams
  • Develop conceptual designs, rough cost estimates, and preliminary project schedules
  • Review, approve, and verify crane mechanical system designs & installs for compliance
  • Support accuracy of system documentation and drawing libraries
  • Create CAD drawings and documentation; review contractor redline submittals and verify as-built drawings
  • Provide input to strategic, short term, and long term infrastructure planning; recommend improvements
  • Work with internal & external partners to identify and assess alternatives and impacts
  • Determine causes of asset failures using reliability tools & methods (lifecycle analysis, condition-based maintenance, MTBF, fault tree analysis)
  • Demonstrate daily commitment to safety and operational excellence
  • Travel up to 15% to Boeing sites in Puget Sound area as needed

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in mechanical engineering or related engineering field
  • 5+ years of experience in an engineering role
  • 3+ years of experience maintaining mechanical cranes and hoisting systems including cables, chain sheaves and hooks
  • Experience reading & understanding engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications
  • Ability to perform work at heights up to 50 feet above ground level with appropriate safety gear
  • 5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (preferred)
  • Experience in safety processes related to crane systems (preferred)
  • Experience applying Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA), or similar problem/analysis/resolution processes (preferred)
  • Experience working with industrial automation systems for cranes; reading standard PLC programming languages such as ladder logic, function block diagrams & statement lists (preferred)
  • Experience using Autodesk AutoCAD or Revit (preferred)
  • Drug Free Workplace compliance: post-offer testing for substances
