About the role

  • Provide oversight, monitoring and reporting on operational risks for a designated portfolio
  • Develop and monitor the operational management framework, including governance framework & practices to manage operational risks
  • Provide policies & standards, methodologies and controls to increase transparency, accuracy and consistency
  • Work with stakeholders to implement methodology, metrics and program standards; ensure compliance and timely reporting
  • Independently assess operational risk profile, exposures, initiatives and system/control weaknesses
  • Assist with interpretation of regulations and assess impacts to governance frameworks
  • Support development and execution of strategic initiatives; analyze data to provide insights and recommendations
  • Manage databases and support analysis, forecasting and data visualization adhering to data governance standards
  • Assess education & training needs; develop/deliver training and communication plans to influence behaviour
  • Support change management, oversight/governance activities, and maintenance/measurement/reporting of risk programs
  • Support governance meetings (committee, management, board): prepare agendas, documentation, and meeting minutes
  • Administer operational risk program activities, identify potential risk situations and escalate per guidelines
  • Build relationships with business stakeholders and Corporate Support Areas to provide second line of defense support
  • Maintain tools and templates for operational risk programs (RCSA, SOX, regulatory compliance)

Requirements

  • Typically between 4 - 6 years of relevant experience
  • Post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Working / in-depth knowledge operational risk management practices
  • Working / in-depth knowledge of the designated business / product portfolio
  • Working / in-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements
  • Working / in-depth knowledge of quantitative techniques and economic capital methodologies
  • Working / In-depth knowledge & experience with risk policy frameworks; quality control / testing frameworks
  • Technical proficiency gained through education and/or business experience
