Shape and execute industry-leading procurement strategies that align with BioMarin’s strategic priorities
Develop deep and influential relationships with senior stakeholders and act as a trusted advisor
Establish transparent and competitive supply channels and drive innovation and continuous improvement
Design and deliver category strategies across the Commercial Services portfolio (Creative Agencies, Digital Advertising, Market Research and Data Insights, Market Access, Patient Support Services)
Collaborate closely with BioMarin’s Commercial Organization globally to align long-range plans and annual business imperatives
Ensure category strategies deliver optimized cost and quality outcomes while enabling a reliable, innovative supply base
Provide thought leadership in procurement and model excellence in category management
Partner closely with Finance and Quality organizations and support internal audit efforts as needed
Lead high-impact, complex negotiations and establish senior-level supplier relationship management
Define multi-year roadmaps for Commercial categories, set KPI framework, monitor performance, and drive accountability
Requirements
Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain Management or related field
MBA / post-graduate qualifications would be an advantage
7+ years of experience in Procurement/Sourcing
Extensive experience in procurement in a global capacity, preferably within the pharmaceutical sector
Demonstrated experience with category management, sourcing and procurement best practices
Proven track record of developing and executing category strategies in complex, global organizations
Experience managing supplier relationships at the executive level
Experience with procurement technology; preference for Ariba/SAP
Knowledge of procurement tools such as sourcing, quotation analysis, contract negotiation, supplier review, supplier development
Understand risk elements of suppliers and define/engage risk assessment and mitigation tactics
Strong knowledge of finance (cost benchmark, financial audit with key suppliers) and legal matters (contracting)
Demonstrated expertise in category strategy development and implementation, stakeholder management and supplier relationship management
Significant experience working in a matrix (global/ regional) business environment
Excellent communicator and interpersonal skills; strong written and verbal communication
Results-driven mindset; ability to work in high pressure environment and under tight deadlines
Motivated, high-energy, curious, self-starter with a strong business mindset
Strong networking skills and ability to build productive and collaborative relationships with stakeholders and business partners
