About the role

  • This position holds overall responsibility for Global/Regional Transportation and is expected to be the key functional expert for the company.
  • This position requires the ability to influence and manage across business units and geographies working with many different ERP systems, products, data, and freight carriers with various complexities.
  • Manages all carrier relationships at the Executive level of their companies.
  • Conducts transportation supplier performance reviews and makes carrier recommendations to all businesses based on cost, service, and quality performance.
  • Negotiates Global or Regional contractual agreements between Arrow and its transportation suppliers.
  • Negotiations include Freight rates, service commitments, Fuel surcharge limits, loss and damage penalties, and other strategic contract terms.
  • Annual cost reduction goals meet or exceed corporate efficiency targets.
  • Creates the strategies and manages Global or Regional Transportation activities of all businesses – Interacts with senior Operations and Sales management to ensure Arrow's transportation capabilities exceed customer expectations.
  • Completes complex analytical work for the Logistics, Value Added teams, Services businesses, and Customers of “what if “ transportations studies related to potential physical network changes.
  • Also completes studies related to the cost /service impacts of acquisitions on the network during due diligence.
  • Leads, trains, develops and overseas the transportation management team
  • Implements transportation studies to evaluate receipt and shipment activity and associated costs.
  • Completes customer and Business cost impact analysis for the various change options related to customer buying patterns, outbound shipment consolidation opportunities, and optimal Freight carrier selection.

Requirements

  • R equires a minimum of 15 years of related experience with a 4-year degree; or 12 years and an advanced degree; or equivalent experience.
