Engineer

• Serves as the Technical Lead for the transportation components of more complex projects
• Responsible for the technical coordination among other design disciplines and subconsultants
• Leads the development of 3D roadway design models using AutoCAD Civil3D in accordance with RIDOT standards and workflows
• Oversees or prepares plan sets, special provisions, and cost estimates for roadway design projects
• Assists Project Managers in the following:
• Planning, coordination, and execution of both large and small projects
• Complying with assigned project schedules and budget on projects by actively reporting on project progress and identifying additional work outside the contractual scope
• Developing technical approaches, schedules, and fee estimates for proposals on large-scale or more complex projects to produce an effective and quality proposal
• Develops technical solutions for complex roadway projects by applying engineering knowledge and skills to produce quality work
• Maintains positive relationships with clients,
• Participates in developing the technical approach for proposals
• Supervises and trains less experienced staff by providing daily guidance and checks their work and progress; serves as a positive role model and mentor for junior staff
• Manages a direct report, including managing workload management, approving timesheets and expense reports, and guiding career path development
• Maintains quality control within the department by reviewing designs, calculations, and assumptions on projects
• Prepares for and performs oral presentations to the public, municipal boards, and clients regarding project deliverables, and to external associations and at professional conferences

Senior Transportation Project Engineer

• Provide a leadership role in advancing small to large transportation infrastructure design projects in an efficient manner.
• Design the more complex elements of transportation projects while delegating other design tasks to less experienced engineers.
• Coordinate and oversee the preparation of construction bid documents consisting of plans, specifications and estimates.
• Maintain client relationships through ensuring objectives are met and clients are satisfied.
• Participate in meetings with clients and the public.
• Assist Project Managers in monitoring labor budgets.

Senior Transportation Engineer

Project Manager

• Lead construction administration tasks, including:
• Construction progress meetings
• Submittal reviews
• Preparation of meeting agendas and minutes
• Review of daily and weekly construction reports
• Preparation of payment applications, RFIs, and change orders
• Coordination with field staff and designers
• Project closeout and tracking construction schedules
• Assist in training, mentorship, and technical development of Project Managers and staff through:
• Holding training seminars
• Providing technical guidance during project execution
• Bringing new technical developments in-house
• Consult with technical staff and Project Managers on technical issues and provide QA/QC reviews on projects outside of their direct involvement
• Recognize potential risks related to nonstandard technical matters or legal disputes and participate in required insurance training to minimize liability
• Work with minimal direction or supervision, demonstrating success with similar project responsibilities
• Oversee technical accuracy of projects through:
• Regular communication with project staff
• Review of plans, specifications, reports, and calculations
• Ensuring compliance with firm standards
• Make technical presentations to clients and at public meetings to review and discuss project details
• Lead projects from development through completion by identifying schedules, scopes, budget estimates, and implementation plans, including QA/QC and risk management

• Supervise and direct the preparation of design and construction bid documents for transportation (roadway) projects involving multi-modal accommodations (Complete Streets) including corridor, intersection, and downtown improvements
• Effectively present at meetings with clients and the public
• Maintain project financials/budgets, schedules, and project advancement
• Manage/mentor staff and provide guidance, manage workloads, and provide issue resolution
• Prepare project scopes and budgets for proposals and contracts
• Maintain communication with clients including municipalities and regional agencies
