About the role

  • Prepare and review journal entries and general ledger account reconciliations.
  • Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements and assist with balance sheet reviews and detailed account analysis.
  • Participate in monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes, including variance analysis and financial integrity checks.
  • Assist in preparing FERC financial reports and GAAP financial statements, including footnotes and MD&A.
  • Support internal management reporting and respond to auditor data requests.
  • Provide analysis and support for regulatory filings and proceedings.
  • Develop and cultivate positive business relationships between Accounting and other AEP business partners.
  • Proactively assess, develop and enhance processes and procedures on a continuous basis.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business with an Accounting concentration
  • 2 years of accounting experience required (Accountant II Only)
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and regulatory reporting requirements
  • CPA or progress towards certification preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft products and familiarity with ERP systems
  • Peoplesoft experience a plus
  • Analytical mindset with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Continuous improvement mindset with competencies in Adaptability, Flexibility, Creativity and Initiative.
