The Director of Portfolio Monitoring leads a team responsible for covenant and borrowing base review activities, ensuring compliance with procedures, work instructions, and regulations.
Actively develops individuals into analytical advisors who can confidently interpret borrowing base and covenant requirements, spot emerging risks, and articulate insights to deal teams.
Fosters a growth mindset across the team by providing opportunities for training, mentorship, and stretch assignments that expand technical and business acumen.
Collaborates closely with key leadership and other stakeholders to build scalable processes, deliver timely insights, and communicate portfolio trends to Senior and Executive Leadership, as well as appropriate risk committees.
Provides direct supervision and oversight to designated staff within Portfolio Monitoring Team.
Identifies and prepares high-potential talent for advancement, ensuring clear development pathways into roles across credit, underwriting, risk, evaluations, etc.
Establishes high standards for accuracy, timelines and insight, while recognizing and rewarding behaviors that drive both compliance and strategic value.
Ensures in-depth and timely analysis of covenants and borrowing bases, balancing precision with forward-looking perspectives.
Implements monitoring processes and dashboards that proactively surface anomalies, stress points, and borrower risks before they escalate.
Requirements
BA/BS degree with emphasis on agriculture, agribusiness, business administration, or equivalent
Demonstrated experience in credit, finance, or underwriting within a financial institution
Eight (8) years of banking or related agricultural lending experience
Agribusiness or Capital Markets underwriting experience preferred
Working knowledge of agricultural lending principles and practices, and Association and FCS operating policies and procedures
Knowledge of FCA regulations, policies and procedures
Demonstrated proficiency in organizing and prioritizing work to meet deadlines and maintain business functions
Exceptional written, verbal, analytical, persuasive, and interpersonal skills
Demonstrated proficiency in leading and motivating others
Exceptional ability to make sound decisions involving varied levels of risks and ambiguity
High level of objectivity, empathy and diplomacy to establish and maintain an effective on-going relationship between departments, customers, bank, and regulatory agencies
Ability to use software and information technology to collect, organize, retrieve, maintain and disseminate information
Ability to use technology in new or complex situations.
