About the role

  • Prepare the Site-Specific Safety Plans and Activity Hazard Analysis for assigned Business Unit projects; Ensure compliance to all Safety Policies and adopted Standards; Ensure personal protective equipment meets applicable OSHA/EPA requirements and employees are trained on proper use; Conduct Safety Audits of assigned project sites ensuring work is being accomplished safely and occupational health is not compromised; Safety training of all personnel assigned to project; Conduct project safety inspections with follow-up inspections of any open items; Review Subcontractor safety qualifications and attend Pre-Construction Meetings; Creation and evaluating activity hazard reviews; Regulatory compliance with OSHA and Ameresco standards and conducts accident and incident investigations; Development and Implementation of Corrective Action Plans; Work with project supervision to create safety solutions to safety problems; Foster and maintains a positive safety culture for the project personnel; Maintain all safety certifications as required by contracts; Conduct quarterly safety meetings for Project Staff; Produce Safety Reports of activities performed; Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner to get along with customers, co-workers, supervisors, and management; Lead Incident/accident Investigations; and Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

  • B.S. Degree in Occupational Safety & Health Engineering or similar Field
  • Minimum of 5+ years construction industry safety experience on similar projects
  • An average of at least 24 hours of formal safety training each year for the past 5 years with training for competent person status for at least the following 4 areas of competency: Excavation; Scaffolding; Fall protection; Hazardous energy; Confined space; Health hazard recognition, evaluation and control of chemical, physical and biological agents; Construction Health and Safety Technician Certification EM385-1-1 40-Hr. Safety Certification
  • Current OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification
  • Current First Aid & CPR Certification
  • NFPA 70 certification
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and other basic computer skills
  • Must be organized, proactive and have proven experience in OSHA Compliance
  • Skillful communicator in both verbal and in written communication
  • Excellent writing skills with proper grammar
  • Ability to travel frequently
  • A great listener who can communicate professionally and in an open and positive approach.
