About the role

  • The Senior R&D Program Manager manages the development and implementation process of Abbott's products and services involving departmental or cross-functional teams focused on the delivery of new or existing products
  • Oversees product development and execution of complex software and hardware projects, ensuring alignment with business goals, development timelines, and budgets
  • Bridges engineering teams, stakeholders, and leadership to optimize workflows and productivity

  • What you’ll work on includes ensuring alignment of development programs with business strategy; managing cross-functional teams; planning and organizing interdepartmental activities; facilitating decision making; analyzing risks; communicating milestones; documentation; travel up to 20%; adherence to Quality System and EHS policies
  • Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment
  • May conduct design analysis on components and/or assemblies to assist in the development process by ensuring designs are cost efficient, manufacturable, and reliable
  • Communicates with the other engineering personnel to coordinate the interrelated design and assure project completion
  • May act as internal consultant providing technical guidance on most complex projects
  • This is a non-supervisory position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (preferably in Engineering, science or a closely related discipline is desired) or equivalent technical experience; additional post-graduate education may contribute toward the desired years of experience
  • Minimum 11+ years of work experience
  • Experience designing and testing medical devices
  • Project leadership and management skill required
  • Experience working in a broader enterprise/cross division business unit model preferred
  • Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment
  • Ability to work effectively within a team in a fast-paced changing environment
  • Strong leadership skills, including the ability to set goals and provide positive and constructive feedback respectfully to build positive relationships and improve business results
  • Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization
  • Multi-tasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner
  • Strong organizational, planning, and follow-up skills and ability to hold others accountable
