About the role
- Shape the engineering foundation and technical organization for rapid scale
- Transform the technical org into a world-class team known for speed, creativity, and customer impact
- Assemble high-caliber engineering teams through hiring and mentorship
- Uplevel systems, architecture, and engineering practices to support growth
- Create cultural DNA that enables scale and high performance
- Set technical strategy and partner closely with product and design
- Manage technical debt while maintaining product velocity and shipping features
- Participate in customer discovery and join customer calls as needed
- Occasionally roll up sleeves and operate as both leader and operator
Requirements
- 12+ years of engineering experience
- At least 3+ years in a senior leadership role (VP, Head of Eng, or Director-level with VP-level scope)
- Experience scaling engineering teams from early-stage (Seed/Series A) to growth-stage (Series B+)
- Experience building and leading teams from ~5 to 20+ engineers
- Proven track record of attracting, hiring, and retaining top-tier engineering talent
- Strong technical fundamentals in modern web architecture, distributed systems, or AI-driven platforms
- Ability to dive into system design and architecture discussions
- Product-centric mindset; experience working closely with PMs and designers
- Proven ability to manage technical debt while maintaining velocity
- Experience in high-intensity, fast-paced startup or scale-up environments
- Willingness to be a visible leader: recruiting, coaching, customer calls, and occasional hands-on work
