About the role

  • The WVU Cancer Institute at West Virginia University is currently accepting applications for a (Hybrid) Program Coordinator for Training position with Cancer Prevention & Control.\n
  • About the Opportunity: This position is responsible for creating content for training and education efforts for the CHATS Core Services in the field of cancer prevention and control with a specific emphasis in cancer communication science.\n
  • The CHATS Core offers customized training opportunities in health communication, social media, and dissemination science to a variety of professionals and students with a concentration in the health care field.\n
  • This position will develop courses for professionals, students, researchers, faculty, staff, or community. Establish a comprehensive process of evaluating training efforts from design to completion.\n
  • Serve as the primary trainer on various communication topics including but not limited to: relationship-centered communication, health communication, dissemination science, knowledge translation, science communication, professional social media use, and tailored training on CHATS Lab-developed knowledge products.\n
  • The Communicating for Health in Appalachia by Translating Science (CHATS) Core provides specialized health communication services that translate research into practice.\n
  • CHATS blends complementary expertise in communication science and health behavior theory (CHATS Lab) with knowledge translation and dissemination science (CHATS Core) to transform scientific evidence into actionable communication interventions targeted to diverse real-world settings.\n
  • The CHATS Core consults with internal and external partners providing; (1) Dissemination planning, (2) Communication material development, and (3) Customized training presentations and workshops.\n
  • This position serves as the primary point of for CHATS Core training, independently using professional concepts and techniques, as well as organizational policies to solve a wide range of moderate to complex problems in imaginative and practical ways.\n

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in appropriate discipline: public health, health communications, health education, education, human development, workforce education and development, human resources, or related field.\n
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in the following: Health-related communication Research and/or public health dissemination Curriculum development, workforce training design/delivery, instructional design, learning management or education development programming.\n
  • An equivalent combination of related education and/or experience will be considered.\n
  • CITI certification required within six months of hire
