About the role
- Manage land surveying and geospatial projects from project initiation through final delivery.
- Develop detailed project scopes, schedules, budgets, and work plans in coordination with Discipline Leaders, Team Leaders, and Market Leaders.
- Monitor project performance and proactively address schedule, budget, staffing, or technical issues.
- Ensure deliverables meet Woolpert quality standards, client requirements, and contractual obligations.
- Provide technical oversight for a range of survey services, including boundary, topographic, route, right-of-way, construction, and control surveys.
- Oversee the application of conventional survey methods as well as advanced geospatial technologies such as photogrammetry, LiDAR, UAS, and mobile mapping, as appropriate.
- Ensure all surveying work complies with local, state, and federal regulations, professional standards, and Woolpert best practices.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the project lifecycle.
- Lead scoping meetings and coordinate with clients to define project objectives, requirements, and deliverables.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships that support repeat business and long-term partnerships.
- Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary project teams, including surveyors, technicians, and geospatial specialists.
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and technical support to project staff.
- Collaborate with internal disciplines to support integrated project delivery.
- Support proposal development, cost estimating, and project pursuits.
- Assist with identifying and developing new business opportunities within existing and emerging markets.
- Contribute to the growth of Woolpert’s Survey & Geomatics Discipline by supporting client expansion and market initiatives.
Requirements
- Active Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license in the state of Ohio and New York. If not license in both states, the ability to obtain licensure in Ohio and New York.
- Bachelor’s degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Significant experience in land surveying with demonstrated experience managing survey or geospatial projects.
- Strong understanding of surveying principles, project management practices, and DOT and municipal standards.
- Proficiency with industry-standard survey, CAD, and geospatial software.
- Willingness to undergo a pre-employment verification and drug screening.
- Experience supporting transportation and public-sector clients, including state DOTs and local municipalities.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
