Participate in a 12-week internship with 2–3 rotations across Finance & Accounting departments (Accounting, Corporate Finance, Internal Audit, Investor Relations, Treasury & Risk Management)
Be embedded within teams, work with a mentor, and network across departments
Conduct directed analyses and prepare insights and recommendations based on analysis
Synthesize findings, draw conclusions, and make oral/written recommendations to supervisor/manager
Execute tasks related to functional projects and process improvements
Communicate issues and roadblocks related to areas of responsibility
Opportunity to work on projects such as analyzing acquisition targets and profitability across operations
Cross-functional collaboration with groups such as Corporate Development & Innovation, Digital, Marketing, Operations, Supply Chain, People, and Sustainability
Exposure to WM’s core businesses and interaction with senior leaders
Requirements
High school diploma or GED (accredited) and pursuing a bachelor's degree (accredited)
Completed Course Work Hours: 60.0
No prior work experience required
Must be available to participate in the 12-week internship program from start to finish (May 18 – Aug 7, 2026)
Must be available to work 40 hours per week/standard working hours
Must have completed at least two years of college and be enrolled as a college student in the fall of 2026
Prefer those in the Houston area as relocation and housing is not provided
Must be authorized to work in the US
High preference for students with at least a 3.0 GPA
High preference for students pursuing a Finance or Accounting degree
Ability to work efficiently and independently while maintaining attention to detail
Able to be flexible and adapt to changing situations while remaining positive
Ability to work effectively in a diverse, collaborative team environment
Ability to think critically and communicate concisely and thoughtfully, in person and in writing
Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word)
