About the role
- Present the full line of WM services to prospective WM customers in assigned territory
- Manage existing revenues and develop revenue opportunities within an established geographical territory
- Meet or exceed individual sales goals for new business with industrial and hazardous waste customers
- Utilize, coordinate, and cultivate relationships with internal and external customers and work cohesively with industrial sales team members
- Maintain existing base business; identify new waste streams and new base business customers; target and close event business opportunities
- Drive pre-tax profits through innovative pricing and contracting strategies
- Develop comprehensive sales plan for assigned territory aligned with division sales plan and goals
- Work with Technical Service Representatives on waste profiling, proposal preparation, pricing, contracting, and regulatory updates
- Demonstrate working knowledge of industrial and hazardous waste regulations (RCRA, TSCA, CERCLA)
- Identify local market dynamics and implement countermeasures to offset competitive campaigns and pricing deterioration
- Assist in collecting receivables and communicate competitive and market information to management
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
- Provide monthly sales reports, commissions, and expenses on time
- Attend industrial sales meetings and training classes; perform special projects assigned by Industrial Sales Manager
- Hybrid schedule: majority customer-site visits with remaining time in office or working from home
Requirements
- Must reside in the greater Novato, CA area
- Conduct customer-site visits the majority of the week
- Bachelor\'s Degree (accredited) OR High School Diploma or GED (accredited) and 5 years of relevant work experience
- 3 years Industrial or hazardous waste sales work experience required (in addition to education requirement)
- Must have clean driving record
- Working knowledge of industrial and hazardous waste regulations (RCRA, TSCA, CERCLA)
- Superior sales and organizational skills
- Experience with waste profiling, proposal preparation, pricing, and contracting
- Ability to provide regulatory updates to customers
- Ability to assist in collecting receivables within contracted period
- Ability to provide monthly sales reports, commissions, and expenses
- Physical requirements: standing, walking, sitting, lifting, reaching, handling, feeling, talking
- May require travel by air or access to federal property; must have or be willing to obtain REAL ID or TSA approved alternative
