About the role
- Partner with engineering, finance, accounting, and product teams to design scalable solutions that turn payments data into high-leverage products
- Own architecture and execution for capturing, modeling, and serving financial data and ship production code
- Build and maintain mission-critical streaming and batch pipelines processing transactions, settlements, refunds, and chargebacks with tight SLOs for latency and accuracy
- Deliver finance-grade data products powering seller statements, 1099/1099-K tax reporting, revenue recognition, and SEC/SOX compliance
- Design tests, lineage, and monitoring to ensure data quality and traceability
- Automate reconciliations across payment processors, banks, and the general ledger in partnership with Finance
- Enable real-time dashboards, risk scoring models, and business metrics by working with analytics, ML, and product teams
- Extend data architecture and drive end-to-end initiatives to keep revenue data accurate, timely, and traceable
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience as a data or software engineer working with high-volume payments or fintech data
- Turn complex financial datasets into reliable, documented, discoverable data products
- Understand data modeling techniques (Data Vault, Kimball, dimensional, double-entry ledger) and apply the right one
- Hands-on expertise with modern data tooling—ingestion, testing, transformation, orchestration, lineage, and semantic layers
- Experience managing and optimizing cloud data warehouses such as Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift for finance-grade workloads
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional partners (engineering, finance, accounting, product) and translate technical constraints into business value
- Self-starter able to work in a fast-moving environment and communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Must be US-based and within commuting distance of Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, or Seattle hubs
