About the role
- Working supervisor role leading a commercial transportation underwriting team; build team from the ground up
- Lead by example—balancing strategic oversight with hands-on underwriting responsibilities
- Develop and continually improve the underwriting quality and marketing talents or staff support quality for an assigned group of Underwriters and Assistant Underwriters
- Use techniques such as formal and informal referral situations, individual file reviews and re-underwriting projects to improve underwriting quality
- Responsible for selection and training of new associates in the department
- Perform supervisory activities for assigned group including performance management, salary administration, career development plans
- Complete special projects and other duties as assigned by the Underwriting Manager
Requirements
- 7 years of experience in commercial transportation underwriting
- Leadership skills, with the ability to coach, mentor and develop others
- Analytical and communication skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Insurance or related field (Preferred)
- Completion of Associate in Underwriting program (Preferred)
- CPCU designation (Preferred)
