About the role

  • Review and comply with routine and complex subpoena productions and other various legal documents
  • Prepare agreements, legal documents and correspondence relating to non-litigation and litigation matters according to specified content and format
  • Handle operational functions including requesting documentation and keeping internal files current
  • Provide research and background investigation under the general direction of an attorney
  • Provide substantiation and background for specific client inquiries, claims, disputes, cases and proceedings under the direction of an attorney
  • Present recommendations and exercise some independent judgement while developing specialty expertise
  • Identify issues in area of expertise and work independently on complex assignments without direct supervision
  • Prepare agreements, documents and pleadings, and provide research and background information under the direction of an attorney
  • Collaborate, consult, and provide information with Legal Department attorneys and staff, outside counsel and collaborate with line of business
  • Communicate with government entities as needed

Requirements

  • 2+ years of Paralegal experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • Experience handling third-party subpoenas, including civil, criminal, grand jury, governing bodies and law enforcement requests
  • Familiarity with legal hold and preservation request workflows
  • Experience researching and analyzing statutes, court rules, and procedures across jurisdictions
  • Experience reviewing and responding to subpoena production requests, including document redaction, packaging, and submission
  • Experience following written procedures and internal compliance protocols
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills for drafting affidavits, declarations, and legal correspondence
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and research skills, especially in high-volume environments
  • Strong attention to detail and confidentiality, especially with sensitive subpoenas
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, meet strict deadlines, and take direction from senior paralegals and attorneys
  • Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Paralegal certificate is required by certain state laws

  • Additional desired: Knowledge/experience with Onit, NetDocs, SmartStation, SharePoint, Adobe; Familiarity with internal platforms used for document production and tracking; Experience supporting subpoena response teams in a legal operations setting
