About the role
- Provide leadership and oversight for major Software Asset Management (SAM) initiatives, including audits, true‑ups, renewals, and remediation projects
- Facilitate and support the development or refinement of Asset Management & Compliance processes
- Lead Software Asset Management‑related components of enterprise initiatives or projects as the subject matter expert
- Research emerging software concepts and share the insights to inform policy, process, and technology decisions
- Provide regular dashboard reports and executive summaries on software asset status, compliance risks, and value optimization to IT leadership
- Compile, prioritize, schedule, and execute annual software reconciliations and renewals for complex software products
- Produce detailed and summary audit reports for completed software reconciliations to maintain readiness for external manufacturer audits
- Facilitate and track remediation of non-compliant software findings
- Conduct regular audits of prohibited software and coordinate removal actions
- Serve as the primary subject matter expert for external software audits, leading all phases of the audit process
- Interpret complex software usage data, entitlements, and licensing terms to support informed decision‑making
- Manage licensing and subscription models for cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, etc.) and AI solutions
Requirements
- University degree in IT, Business, or Computing Science or equivalent experience is desirable
- Several years of software asset management experience with a focus on software/SaaS licensing
- ITIL v4 Foundation or higher (preferred)
- Knowledge of IT Asset Management/Software Asset Management standards (e.g. ISO 19770)
- Professional Software Asset Management certifications (CSAM, CITAM) strongly preferred
- Ability to translate complex licensing concepts into clear, concise language that is easily understood by diverse audiences
- Familiarity with relevant compliance standards and regulations (e.g. software license legal terms, software audit practices; public sector procurement rules)
- Demonstrated advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office tools—Outlook, Excel, Word, Visio, and Teams
- Familiarity with BI tools for data analysis and reporting (PowerBI)
- Proficiency with software asset management platforms (Ivanti IT Asset Management) and discovery tools (Ivanti End Point Manager, etc.)
- Mature decision‑making, analytical problem‑solving, and investigative skills, with the ability to interpret complex information and recommend sound actions
- Foundational knowledge of project management concepts and techniques; formal training or experience is considered an asset.
