About the role

  • Provide day-to-day legal counsel to the Ad Sales team on a wide range of advertising matters
  • Draft and negotiate custom advertising agreements, including integrated and non-standard deals
  • Advise on complex and high-value transactions, ensuring alignment with business objectives while mitigating legal risk.
  • Review campaigns for compliance and provide practical, business-oriented guidance
  • Issue-spot and counsel on evolving regulatory and industry standards impacting advertising practices.
  • Support and guide the Commercial Clearance team in reviewing advertising content
  • Develop and refine internal guidelines and best practices to ensure consistency and compliance
  • Escalate and resolve sensitive or high-risk clearance issues
  • Advise on emerging and strategic ad initiatives, including:
  • Brand funded content deals
  • Principal media and custom media deals
  • Partner with business teams to structure new offerings in a legally compliant and scalable way
  • Provide legal support related to ad technology, including data-driven advertising, programmatic sales, and targeting practices
  • Collaborate with data and privacy team to address issues related to tracking, measurement and ad delivery
  • Maintain a working understanding of the evolving advanced advertising ecosystem
  • Identify legal risks and propose practical mitigation strategies
  • Develop and deliver trainings to Sales and related teams on legal and compliance topics.

Requirements

  • J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar membership
  • 5+ years of relevant legal experience (including law firm experience) with a focus on advertising, media, or commercial transactions
  • Strong knowledge of advertising law and regulatory frameworks
  • Experience working closely with sales or revenue-generating teams
  • Experience drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements
  • Familiarity with advertising review/clearance processes
  • Ability to work independently and also work well with a team
  • Working knowledge of ad technology, including programmatic advertising, data usage, and measurement frameworks
  • Experience advising on branded content and integrated marketing deals
  • Strong business judgment with the ability to balance legal risk and commercial objectives.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.
