About the role

  • Oversee the distribution of feature content for Classic titles to theatres; liaise with vendors for digital QC/approvals of new formats (where available).
  • Have oversight of all aspects of Alternative Content including program curation, anniversary announcements, portal rights management, cost management & DCP conversion of Classic titles.
  • Maintain relationships with worldwide licensees for Non-Theatrical exhibitions.
  • Oversee distribution of feature content and all available formats via hard drive & satellite for Classic titles, alternative content & orchestra events.
  • Expand the Alternative Content footprint by developing a fresh look on re-releasing 'old' films in a new way (Classic Series, Fathom Events, Orchestra).
  • Collaborate with departmental SVP, EVP and head of sales on special projects and identifying the right dates for Classic film reissues.
  • Work with International Division to identify Classic films that would generate income on a worldwide basis & convert those to DCP; coordinate conversion with Film Preservation, Tech Ops & Post Production to maintain reasonable costs & quality presentation.
  • Provide staff direction & cross-training to aid in a fluid execution of departmental responsibilities; strengthen multiple back-up options for all staff members; create efficiencies within the department.
  • Oversee website enhancements for WB Classics, including the incorporation of local production titles, as well as television series/episodes (WB, HBO) and corresponding rights for non-theatrical licensees to reference.
  • Maintain the consumer-facing ‘Theatre Finder’ website for Holiday, Halloween and Anniversary events to increase awareness of alternative content in the marketplace & boost attendance.
  • Oversee budgets & forecasting for Classics as well as Non-Theatrical.
  • Develop relationships with Exhibition, share calendar of upcoming Classic events and celebrations, as well as announce new DCP conversions.
  • Maintain relationships with Non-Theatrical licensees worldwide (~13 licensees) ensuring assignments of rights across territories is reviewed regularly and updated as necessary.
  • Track Non-Theatrical revenue reported by each licensee, by territory by market sector; analyze quarterly and evaluate market trends as well as areas for improvement.

Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years related theatrical distribution required.
  • Knowledge of film entertainment processes.
  • Knowledge of shipping procedures for North America.
  • Knowledge of ever changing print technologies; including 3-D Digital, 3-D Analog, French Digital, O-Box, Premium Large Formats, 70mm, O-Box, Barco Auro, Dolby Atomos, Laser, HOR, etc.
  • Must have knowledge of current and future entertainment technologies.
  • Must have knowledge of Classic Films, Festivals, Retrospectives, Filmmakers, etc.
  • Must have knowledge of websites, social media, new developments in technology, including latest trends.
  • Must have exceptional writing skills.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Outlook, Excel, Access and Power Point.
  • Must have knowledge of file set-up, maintenance, filing procedures, basic math, spelling, grammar, punctuation, English language usage, report and letter formats.
  • Typing at 55 wpm and ability to take fast notes at 50 wpm preferred.
  • Must have a California Driver's License and the ability to drive.
  • Must be able to travel by planes, trains & automobiles.
  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with persons on all levels, in person and on the telephone.
  • Must have the ability to pay close attention to detail and understand written and oral instructions.
  • Must have the ability to adapt to ever-changing work flows and immediate requirements.
  • Must have the ability to organize and schedule work effectively.
  • Must have the ability to work effectively under time constraints in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must have the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Must have good follow through on all tasks assigned.
