About the role
- Reporting to the Vice President, Healthcare Operations (VP HCO), the Executive Director, Healthcare Operations will play a critical role in enhancing and optimizing service delivery.
- The Executive Director (ED) will work closely with the VP, HCO, on developing budgets and implementation of annual operating plans.
- As a member of the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), the ED will lead teams across Ontario and support the implementation of national strategic priorities and initiatives.
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality, safe, and evidence-informed services by applying clinical standards, supporting quality improvement initiatives, and addressing risks related to service delivery.
- Lead and provide operational oversight for Ontario, adhering to VLRC’s operational standards of practice.
- Provide strategic direction to Provincial Managers on business goals and priorities to ensure optimal deployment of resources, day-to-day operations, and service delivery.
- Implement the VLRC national strategic plan within Ontario, translating organizational priorities into operational plans, performance targets, and measurable outcomes.
- Champion change through effective communication and change management strategies.
- Identify training and development needs or succession opportunities of provincial VLR staff and management.
- Identify operational, financial, workforce, and reputational risks within the Ontario region and work with the VP, HCO and cross-functionally to develop mitigation strategies.
- Review monthly and quarterly financial statements to account for budget deviations and prepare strategic action to address budget shortfalls or gaps in revenues, salaries, or operating expenses.
- Lead, coach and develop a team of Regional Managers with a strong focus on client experience and organizational values; and provide strategies to drive both the work of healthcare operations and staff advancement.
- Engage with ministry officials and health care leaders to communicate the organization’s priorities, achievements and sector needs.
- Participate in collective bargaining on behalf of the Ontario region, with knowledge of collective agreements, grievance, and arbitration process.
Requirements
- 10+ years in senior level leadership experience, supported by relevant post-secondary education.
- Sound knowledge of the not-for-profit and health services sectors.
- Demonstrated leadership ability to build and empower high-performing teams aligned with organizational goals.
- Proven commitment to client-centered service delivery, stakeholder engagement, and community partnerships.
- Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, and monitor effective services.
- Strong relationship building, communication and negotiation skills.
- Sound business acumen including budget, performance management, change management and strategic planning.
- Demonstrated ability to resolve complex issues showing sound judgment and timely decision making.
