About the role
- Lead Virgin Red’s internal engineering capabilities and manage technology vendors to build scalable, resilient, secure platforms
- Drive the platform strategy, delivering reusable services, tooling, and CI/CD pipelines for product teams
- Champion developer experience by introducing self-service approaches to reduce toil and speed delivery
- Set standards for engineering excellence and lead high-performing product and platform engineering teams
- Collaborate with Architecture, Product, Security, and Data teams to deliver solutions
- Introduce and promote AI-assisted engineering, observability, automation and modern practices
- Define architectural patterns for highly-reliable, reusable microservices and APIs
Requirements
- A track record of leading software and platform engineering teams to deliver real impact
- Hands-on experience building or scaling products and platforms that deliver innovative, data-driven customer experiences
- Demonstrable experience in evolving engineering teams into high-performance functions aligned to strategic business outcomes
- Ability to engage with senior stakeholders – from C-suite to engineers
- Deep knowledge of modern cloud-native technologies (AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, CI/CD, monitoring stacks) and data platforms (Snowflake, Databricks, etc.)
- Solid understanding of architectural patterns that deliver highly-reliable and re-usable microservices and APIs
- A collaborative, pragmatic approach – balancing big-picture strategy with delivery focus
- Willingness to undergo credit check and global sanctions check
