About the role

  • Assists the Accounting Manager in performing the month-end close which includes preparation of journal entries for inventory usage variances, shipping accruals and variance close-outs
  • Review and posting of all inventory related automated journal entries
  • Review and approve the journal entries of staff before posting to the general ledger
  • Review financial statements for accuracy
  • Ensures deadlines are met
  • Review variances per divisional financial statements
  • Review and present notes for the financial statements
  • Reconcile and analyze inventory in-transit and payable accounts
  • Prepare any adjusting journal entries
  • Reconcile and analyze various general ledger accounts
  • Provide support for Divisional Controllers
  • Answering questions, resolving issues and serving as a resource for accounting procedures and policies
  • Supervise day-to-day activities of staff
  • Provides training, direction and support
  • Act as liaison between General Accounting and other departments
  • Assist the Accounting Manager in preparing for the external financial statement audit
  • Assist the Accounting Manager and Tax Manager in preparing for sales and use tax audits
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent experience required
  • 3-5 years of experience in Accounting and/or Finance required
  • Supervisory experience in a food manufacturing environment required
  • CPA License preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word with knowledge of JDE / Oracle
  • Thorough knowledge of general accounting principles and practices
  • Working knowledge of external financial statement audits with the ability to exercise good judgment and work ethics to ensure the integrity of all reporting
  • Has a good understanding of internal controls and maintains effective controls within the financial reporting process
  • Effective, professional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey information in a clear and concise manner and interact with all levels of management
  • Requires leadership and teambuilding skills.
