About the role

  • Senior Backend Software Engineer to join the Payroll Engineering team; design, build, and scale solutions that enhance user acquisition, engagement, and retention.\n
  • In-office collaboration for 3 days per week in Palo Alto, CA.\n
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to deliver scalable, high-quality solutions.\n
  • Architect, develop, and maintain applications and services using TypeScript, Postgres, and AWS in a serverless environment.\n
  • Optimize systems and processes to drive customer acquisition, retention, and engagement.\n
  • Lead by example in writing clean, maintainable, and efficient code.\n
  • Mentor junior team members and foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement.\n
  • Contribute to technical discussions, design reviews, and code reviews to maintain high engineering standards.\n
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues in production environments.\n
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and best practices to continuously enhance our technology stack.\n
  • Bachelor\'s or Master\'s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.\n
  • 5+ years of professional experience in software engineering, with a strong focus on backend and serverless architecture.\n
  • Experience with TypeScript, Postgres, and AWS (Lambda, DynamoDB, API Gateway, S3, etc.).\n
  • Solid understanding of software design patterns, microservices architecture, and RESTful APIs.\n
  • A lean mindset - Focus on delivering customer value by minimizing waste, optimizing workflows, fostering continuous improvement, and prioritizing in an iterative manner.\n
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.\n
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a team-oriented mindset.\n
  • Experience with financial systems projects is a plus.\n
  • Annualized Pay Range: $160,000 — $200,000 USD.

Requirements

  • Bachelor\'s or Master\'s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.\n
  • 5+ years of professional experience in software engineering, with a strong focus on backend and serverless architecture.\n
