About the role
- Provide one-on-one advising and assistance to small businesses and entrepreneurs in all phases of obtaining and fulfilling government procurement contracts.
- Work with clients to accommodate needs outside core business hours, including training and conferences.
- Record accurate and timely client data into database and assist with reporting federal and state milestones.
- Collect, review, interpret and prepare data for programmatic reports to federal and state funding partners.
- Develop, facilitate, and present business workshops, conferences, and on-site and distance-delivered training and educational events.
- Represent and promote the organization’s services; network and collaborate with economic development entities statewide.
- Serve as backup for Program Manager as assigned.
- Provide advising statewide via face-to-face meetings, phone, email, and web-conferencing; assist clients with strategic plans, registrations, certifications, and responding to RFPs/RFQs/IFBs.
- Work on special projects and participate in network-planned events such as annual strategic planning sessions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, a related field, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Minimum of 2 years work-related experience.
- Valid driver's license with a motor vehicle record (MVR) compliant with the University Vehicle Use Policy.
- May require obtaining various government contracting certifications.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States; sponsorship for H-1B or work visa is not available.
- Business administration experience.
- Demonstrable advising techniques and effective interpersonal communication skills.
- Basic research and reporting techniques; public relations and marketing principles.
- Training techniques, methods and practices.
- Knowledge of government contracting processes including registrations and certifications.
- Experience with special events and workshop development, planning, and assessments.
- Understand federal online computer systems applicable to government contracting.
- Ability to train clientele on government contracting processes including step-by-step assistance.
- Competent computer technology user including database management applications, web conferencing platforms, and MS Office Suite; proficient typing skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; detail-oriented and able to follow detailed directions accurately and consistently.
- Willingness to travel (approx. 5%).
