About the role

  • Develop and execute system/subsystem test and integration activities
  • Develop and manage electrical, communication and physical interfaces across the system
  • Develop and drive integration and system-level test plans to verify functionality, performance, and reliability
  • Diagnose and resolve integration issues, including hardware/software mismatches, communication errors, and performance bottlenecks
  • Collaborate with electronics, digital, RF, optical, mechanical and software engineers, and physicists for cohesive system integration
  • Contribute to project planning and progress tracking to ensure timely delivery of integration milestones
  • Participate in risk assessments, feasibility studies, and rapid prototyping to validate design concepts and integration strategies
  • Understand quantum computer key subsystems, performance metrics, and environmental requirements
  • Create comprehensive documentation for system integration, test procedures, and verification results to support traceability and future development

Requirements

  • Extensive system integration experience of complex technologies
  • Proven hands-on experience managing complex systems from concept to delivery
  • Proficiency with Ansys, MatLab, LabVIEW, TestRail, and SysML
  • Solid indirect leadership skills; empathetic mindset and ability to embed engineering best practices
  • At least 10-15 years of practical experience in system engineering working with complex system integration challenges
  • Experience with electrical, functional and mechanical testing of subsystems and assemblies
  • Strong understanding of hardware, digital, embedded and mechanical design principles
  • Strong experience in translating technical requirements into specifications
  • Expertise in developing and executing test plans for complex systems
  • Demonstrated success in bringing system designs to market
  • Experience working with suppliers and contractors
  • Strong documentation skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; team player
  • A minimum of a 2.1 BEng/BSc Degree in System Engineering or a related field
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with Cryogenic and vacuum environments
  • Nice-to-have: Experience in analogue design
  • Nice-to-have: Familiarity with the vendor supply chain
  • Nice-to-have: Pragmatic approach to decision-making and design choices
  • Nice-to-have: Experience in team management
