About the role
- Develop and execute system/subsystem test and integration activities
- Develop and manage electrical, communication and physical interfaces across the system
- Develop and drive integration and system-level test plans to verify functionality, performance, and reliability
- Diagnose and resolve integration issues, including hardware/software mismatches, communication errors, and performance bottlenecks
- Collaborate with electronics, digital, RF, optical, mechanical and software engineers, and physicists for cohesive system integration
- Contribute to project planning and progress tracking to ensure timely delivery of integration milestones
- Participate in risk assessments, feasibility studies, and rapid prototyping to validate design concepts and integration strategies
- Understand quantum computer key subsystems, performance metrics, and environmental requirements
- Create comprehensive documentation for system integration, test procedures, and verification results to support traceability and future development
Requirements
- Extensive system integration experience of complex technologies
- Proven hands-on experience managing complex systems from concept to delivery
- Proficiency with Ansys, MatLab, LabVIEW, TestRail, and SysML
- Solid indirect leadership skills; empathetic mindset and ability to embed engineering best practices
- At least 10-15 years of practical experience in system engineering working with complex system integration challenges
- Experience with electrical, functional and mechanical testing of subsystems and assemblies
- Strong understanding of hardware, digital, embedded and mechanical design principles
- Strong experience in translating technical requirements into specifications
- Expertise in developing and executing test plans for complex systems
- Demonstrated success in bringing system designs to market
- Experience working with suppliers and contractors
- Strong documentation skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; team player
- A minimum of a 2.1 BEng/BSc Degree in System Engineering or a related field
- Nice-to-have: Experience with Cryogenic and vacuum environments
- Nice-to-have: Experience in analogue design
- Nice-to-have: Familiarity with the vendor supply chain
- Nice-to-have: Pragmatic approach to decision-making and design choices
