About the role
- Serve as a mentor for existing Program Directors and nursing leadership staff.
- Act as interim Program Director during the recruitment process for new Program Directors.
- Plan, develop, manage, update, and evaluate all aspects of the vocational nursing program.
- Prepare reports, proposals, self-studies, surveys, and other documentation required by state and Vocational Nursing Boards.
- Assist with identifying and securing external resources to support nursing program success.
- Develop and implement program policies and procedures in line with regulatory standards.
- Organize and serve on committees related to nursing education and academic quality.
- Develop and maintain educational partnerships with clinical sites.
- Conduct clinical site evaluations assessing safety, risk, and the ability to meet program objectives.
- Participate in nursing faculty recruitment, hiring, orientation, and retention.
- Monitor instructional quality and conduct faculty observations, evaluations, and strategic planning sessions.
- Advise and support potential nursing students during recruitment and admission planning.
- Ensure students are properly oriented to nursing skills labs and clinical facilities prior to rotations.
- Participate in recruitment and admission processes for qualified nursing students.
- Confirm that all students meet documentation, graduation, and licensing exam requirements.
- Assist in planning and conducting Nursing Advisory Committee meetings.
- Engage in professional development and maintain required continuing education hours.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of state rules and regulations governing vocational nursing practice.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Program Director.
- Active California Registered Nursing License.
- Bachelor’s degree from an approved school of nursing.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a registered nurse, including at least 1 year in teaching or clinical supervision (or a combination thereof) within the last 5 years, or a minimum of 3 years in nursing administration or education within the last 5 years.
- Completion of coursework in administration, teaching, and curriculum development from an approved institution
