About the role
- Regional and commodity focus: AECO to Eastern Canada
- Develop existing physical portfolio in respective region
- Direct responsibility for contribution to Gas Portfolio Team profit goals
- Responsible for trading cash and term to meet UGCNA’s contractual obligations
- Work with Origination team to develop physical asset optimization strategies
- Make independent optimization decisions aligned with the fundamental point of view
- Work with other trading and origination teams and market analysts
- Solicits bid/offers and negotiate the purchase and sale of natural gas
- Ensures all deals are checked out and captured accurately
- Provide mentorship and guidance to teammates when required
- Adhere to all risk and compliance policies
Requirements
- Bachelor level University/College is preferred
- Extensive physical natural gas trading and asset optimization experience is required
- Strong understanding of Canadian and US energy infrastructure
- Experience in linking asset positions to customer needs
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to make decisions quickly
- Strong work ethic and self-discipline
- Strong agility to manage multiple tasks
- Interpersonal skills are paramount to this success
