Individual Consultant – Water Cooperation and Groundwater

Graphics Designer

• Design and layout of the United Nations World Water Development Reports (UN WWDR) UN WWDR 2026 (approx. 200 Pages): Prepare and revise the layout proofs of the Spanish version of the UN WWDR 2026 based on the existing template.
• Finalize the print-ready file incorporating comments from WWAP and partners.
• Develop initial internal design proposals for the UN WWDR 2027 in line with the report cover, WWAP’s visual identity and strategic goals.
• Prepare layout proofs and finalize the print-ready file of: Main report (English and French versions; approx. 200 pages each) Executive Summary and Facts & Figures (English, French, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese; approx. 12–20 pages each)
• Redraw and vectorize figures and tables for clarity and publication-readiness.
• Create and deliver source layout templates (InDesign files or equivalent) to enable translations and adaptations.

Video and Graphic Designer

• Identify and select relevant Groundwater-dependent Ecosystems (GWDE) in the Vietnamese side of the CMDA based on the general assessment of the aquifer and existing information on protected sites.
• Compile and analyze available data and information describing the selected GWDE sites to support their assessment.
• Identify data gaps in this area.
• Contribute technically to a collaborative assessment of the GWDE of the Vietnamese side of the CMDA, including the evaluation of ecosystems state (e.g. wetlands) and ecosystem services (groundwater recharge, flood retention, nutrient reduction).
• Assess potential impacts and trends on GWDE using state-of-the-art methodologies and existing numerical assessment tools.
• Prepare a report summarizing the contribution in terms of GWDE to the TDA process for the Vietnamese side of the CMDA.
• Participate in and provide inputs for internal and external meetings and workshops, as required.

National Consultant – Groundwater Dependent Ecosystems

• Provide technical support and coordination to the strategic and operational planning, implementation and monitoring of the activities and sub-activities under STEPCam’s Components 1 and 2

Individual Consultant – Teacher Education and Development Specialist

• Update the bookcover for the first volume of the MangRes graphic novel ‘Visiones del Manglar’, according to UNESCO Publications Guidelines.
• Develop three chapters for the second volume of the MangRes graphic novel ‘Visiones del Manglar’. Format : A4, 20 pages maximum per chapter.
• Create illustrations for the 2nd and 3rd chapters, ensuring alignment with the project's messaging and themes.
• Depict Latin American and the Caribbean mangrove species, landscapes, and environments.
• Ensure scientific accuracy and engage with educational and environmental awareness-raising goals.
• Create the layout and integrate approved text into the final design.

Consultant – Graphic Novel Development and Illustration

• Provide comprehensive guidance and technical assistance in preparing the nomination dossier for the Kanchenjunga Conservation Area (KCA) as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.
• Conduct a thorough review of existing documentation, including management plans, zoning plans, biodiversity data, and socio-economic information.
• Identify gaps in information and recommend data collection strategies.
• Comprehensive advice in drafting the nomination dossier according to UNESCO guidelines and criteria and the guidance of the MAB Committee.
• Evaluate the KCA's alignment with UNESCO Biosphere Reserve criteria.
• Review the current legal parameters of Nepal for designation of Kanchenjunga Conservation Area (KCA) as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.
• Provide recommendations for enhancing the site's suitability for Biosphere Reserve designation.
• Evaluate the existing management plan for principles of sustainable development, biodiversity conservation, and community involvement in line with Local Adaptation Plans for Action (LAPA).

Risk

• Coordinate interfaces with national teams and partners; convene minimal meetings to confirm scope, timelines and acceptance criteria; issue minutes and an action log; route documents via UNESCO to the PMUs and the Joint Technical Committee; maintain an interface tracker; escalate risks to the Regional Coordinator if milestones slip.
• Engage national PMUs, the Joint Technical Committee, MERFI, FAO, IUCN and relevant national institutions for evidence sharing, validation and capacity support; facilitate technical discussions and align contributions with the Annual Work Plan; route all formal submissions via UNESCO.
• Provide methodological guidance and hands‑on support to national experts in Cambodia and Viet Nam to review and analyse both the governance arrangements and the legal frameworks related to groundwater, including institutional stakeholder settings on both sides of the CMDA.
• Develop short, practical templates and an indicator list for the governance and legal review, define harmonisation rules and a QA checklist, and ensure alignment with the aquifer assessment.
• Guide national teams to prepare an integrated assessment of governance and law that enables transboundary cooperation, explicitly considering links to groundwater extraction, recharge, surface water use, land use change, groundwater dependent ecosystems and groundwater quality changes.
• Consolidate and quality‑assure national inputs, produce a harmonised evidence base that is comparable across countries, and identify gaps and priority enablers for cooperation.
• Prepare one concise TDA‑ready synthesis of the combined governance and law findings using the UNESCO template for Output 1.1 contributions.

International Expert – Water Governance, Water Law

Project Manager

• Lead and coordinate the day-to-day implementation of the project activities across the Buzi, Pungwe and Save transboundary river basins in Mozambique and Zimbabwe
• Develop annual and quarterly work plans, and support procurement and contracting processes, including drafting Terms of Reference (ToRs) and technical specifications.
• Providing technical and logistical support to the execution of the planned activities in the Buzi-Pungwe-Save River Basins of Zimbabwe and Mozambique.
• Lead monitoring, evaluation, and reporting processes, ensuring alignment with the project results framework and donor requirements.
• Serve as the primary focal point for engagement with partners, government institutions, civil society organizations, community-based organizations (CBOs), UN agencies, and other stakeholders to ensure coordinated implementation.
• Organize project related events such as stakeholder meetings, training workshops and (online) conferences and undertake project related missions to the field sites to support implementation and to track progress and advise on any required adjustments.
• Support in close collaboration with the communication officers the development and maintenance of project communication platforms, including a website, news articles and data repository, to enhance visibility and knowledge management.
• Support the work of the UNESCO Natural Sciences sector in ROSA and contribute as a team member to its activities. This includes identifying and proposing innovative approaches, building and promoting knowledge in the areas of Natural Sciences and Technologies, participating in resources mobilization in support of the Harare Office and ROSA.

• Organize key events and support national and regional community meetings: Plan and manage thematic sessions, including potentially beekeeping masterclass sessions.
• Support beekeepers from biosphere reserves worldwide to attend local and regional events.
• Contribute to the coordination and facilitation of in-person national and regional alumni meetings in collaboration with relevant UNESCO field offices.
• Develop sustainable beekeeping guidelines in biosphere reserves to guide practice under the project, including propositions of business development for individuals and cooperatives.
• Maintain the community vibrancy through regular networking activities, check-ins, group discussions, and thematic forums (e.g., meliponiculture).
• Enable one-on-one exchanges between members on specific topics of interest.
• Collaborate with other beekeeping networks, including, if relevant, contributing to World Bee Day 2026.
